Alstonville to host Australia Day celebrations

Australia Day, 26 January, is the biggest day of celebration in the country. On Australia Day we come together as a nation to celebrate what's great about Australia and being an Australian.

It's the day to reflect on what we have achieved and what we can be proud of in our great nation. It's the day for us to re-commit to making Australia an even better place for the future.

The Ballina Shire Australia Day civic celebrations rotate around the Shire annually, with the Alstonville community hosting the event on Saturday 26 January, 2013.

The celebrations will be held from 9am - 11am in the beautiful Elizabeth Ann Brown Park (Wardell Road), the heart of the town centre. The civic reception includes a formal Australia Day ceremony consisting of the traditional flag raising ceremony, welcome to country, Australia Day address by special guest and London Olympic Swimming Champion Melanie Schlanger, naturalisation of new citizens and announcement of the Ballina Shire Australia Day Award recipients.
